All you need to know - Cook's Illustrated WINNING PAN * * *
After looking through customer reviews on Amazon for the "Lincoln Foodservice Half-Size Heavy Duty Sheet Pan," I came away with more questions than answers. I wanted the sheet pan that Cook's Illustrated/America's Test Kitchen named their winner, but there were so many conflicting reviews about whether this pan was/was not the winning model. Excellent pan!!
I also chose this pan because of the recommendation on America's Test Kitchen. I preheated this pan at 475 and baked honey drizzled sweet potatoes on it. It didn't stick, was easy to clean..and most definitely didn't warp. I noticed the picture someone posted of their pan that warped. The bottom of mine looks different. It says No. 5303, Lincoln-Wearever. Fort Wayne, In. Made in USA 2007-4. I wondered if maybe they had received a different pan. This pan was everything America's Test Kitchen said it would be. I have no regrets at all..it's as close to perfect as a 1/2 sheet pan can be!

The item description is currently wrong...
The item description states that the product is "Constructed from 3003 and 3004 aluminum alloys for durability". This is not the case. It can't be both. If it is the 13-gauge (the items states that it is) it is 3004 aluminum alloy. The 3003 is the thinner 18-gauge aluminum alloy. This is directly from Lincolns website (lincolnsmallwares (dot) com/Prod_Detail2.cfm?id=74)The product number for the 3004 aluminum alloy is 5314. The 5314 is the only one that is NSF certified and is the one that Cooks Illustrated tested. If you do not receive the 5314 from this seller you should return and demand a full refund.(I gave this item 4 stars as that was what it was rated when I posted).

Near-perfect pan for just about anything!
Though it isn't quite as beastly as the heavy-duty, 13 gauge 5314 half sheet model by Wear-Ever (Vollrath/Lincoln Foodservice or whatever imprint the company is currently using), the 16 gauge 5220 quarter sheet is the real workhorse of my kitchen.I love my half sheets but I'm generally only cooking for myself and my wife, and for the two of us this quarter sheet does the job. Even when I'm preparing a larger meal I find myself reaching for two quarter sheets instead of a half most of the time. They're an easier size to clean and also allow me to easily place one pan in the oven after something else has been cooking for awhile so that they're finishing right around the same time. In fact, it's the versatility and convenience of this pan that inspired me to write this review. Since yesterday alone I've used a single quarter sheet to roast maple glazed bacon for breakfast, a variety of root vegetables for lunch, and some pork for dinner. Then I pulled it out of the dish...

this is a very good pan
I love this pan for small jobs. Used with a Silpat silicone liner, (which cost more than the pan), it's great for baking those refrigerated cookies, six at a time, or refrigerated biscuits. If there are only two people in your household, this pan will get a lot of use.It's pretty sturdy at 16 gauge. I wish I could find one at 13 gauge, as I'm afraid to use this under the broiler, for fear it may warp. I also wish CIA made a good 1/4 size rack for this little pan to match their highly-rated 1/2 sheet pan rack. I can't seem to find a 1/4 cooling rack to fit this pan properly.

Sleek, solid, professional grade
My old jelly roll pan came to the end of its life, and I had purchased a supermarket Good Cook non-stick cookie sheet as a temporary cheap fix until I could justify getting the Vollrath recommended by Cook's Illustrated. Long story short, my cheap fix turned out to be SO cheap that it became much more temporary than I had intended: my Vollrath arrived yesterday, and all I can say is WOW. It is four times thicker than the cheap cookie sheet, two inches longer (which makes a big difference), and perfectly flat. The smooth, one-piece construction promises easy cleaning, and the simplicity of the design looks so basically professional that I'm proud to have one in my kitchen. This is a sturdy, solid piece of equipment. I plan to order one or two more in time for the holidays - baking gingerbread house pieces will be a snap!One note - there is a quarter-inch hole at one end, presumably for hanging on a hook. No more burnt cookies
I purchased this after reading a review in Cooks Illustrated. I had been burning cookies badly and after switching to the Vollrath cookie sheet with a sheet of parchment paper, no more burnt cookies. The sheet is sturdy and does not warp. The lack of sides on two edges makes it easy to slid the cookies off of the sheet to a cooling rack, sweet.

I purchased this pan through a different company. Cookies cook evenly with good color. Can be used with parchment paper, Silpat but also used with cooking spray. Worked great with all. Much better than other cookies sheets on the market. Definitely a must have if you love cookies.

the only sheet pans you ever want
I love love love these sheet pans; They bake and roast everything and anything beautifully and are easy to clean. Dark colored pans burn your foodand nonstick never browns anything. The weight and color of these are perfect. I have one for roasting vegetables (I usually put a piece of parchment to line the pan altho not necessary; but do toss the cut up veges with oil) at 500 degrees; the veges come out golden and done inside. I bake any cookie recipe on this (also on parchment-altho not necessary) and the cookies come out golden and perfect. I've roasted pieces of chicken; I've made chicken wings. Just incredible pans.

great multi purpose pans!
I purchased these pans last fall because of a recomendation from Cooks Illustrated magazine. I was not dissapointed! These are a heavier weight and they do not warp. Wash by hand, as dishwasher detergent disscolors the pans. Order more than two, you can use them in so many ways! I could not find these in stores.

I received this unit a few days ago.It only took about 30 minutes to assemble the electrodes and strike an arc.This is a proven, quality designed welder that will do everything most home or farm shop users will need for welding. The design is a proven design from the 1930's and 1940's. It is sturdy, reliable, and, isn't hampered by "digital hocus-pocus." You turn it on, adjust the control to the correct voltage and weld . . . . You don't have to spend days of your valuable life memorizing arcane sequences of digital button inputs to get it work . . . . A BIG PLUS!You won't be able to weld pipelines, 8 inch I beams, or, heavy duty frame joints. However, it is more than adequate for 99% of sheet metal fabrications and repairs, or, simple angle iron constructions in a home, farm or small business shop.The helmet is enough to get started, but, I wouldn't rely on it for more than practice. Exceeds expectations
I love it. I've made very successful welds on 1/8" steel using .035 wire and 25/75 argon/co2 mix, 5/32" cast aluminum using .035 aluminum wire with 100% argon, (repaired Webber gas grill cover hinge that broke in a gale: Saved a pretty penny!), 24 gauge steel using .023" wire 25/75 argon/co2, and several other thicknesses of steel up to 5/32". Flux core wire works well too on 1/8" and thicker steel, but of course not as pretty a weld. Easy to set up, adjust, and learn to use. Have not yet exceeded the duty cycle or caused a circuit breaker to open. I have found that one of the keys is to look at the work from the side so the puddle is always visible. I use a self-darkening helmet: expensive, but I think worth it. My previous experience is with a torch and with 220v buzz box. The MIG makes strong welds in material 1/8" and thinner so much easier. Buy one and enjoy it.

A good little welder
I bought this machine (Hobart Handler 140) more than a year ago and have put it through its paces. It comes with the regulator, switch and hose so you only need the tank. Of course you can use flux core without the tank. Remember that you can get away with welding stainless with Argon but Trimix or an Argon/CO2 mix it recommended. I already had a helmet etc. so another $120 for a new full R40 Argon tank and I was MIG welding aluminum.This is a fully functional MIG welder that runs on 115V (20 amps) current. It is well made and I haven't had any problems with durability or malfunctions, it is quite reliable in that respect. It is quite portable and I like the safety switch which is only live when you're actually welding. I also called support once (about the liner) and they were prompt and helpful. It does have one tiny annoyance that the door latch is made of plastic and doesn't usually latch properly, but since the door hangs down when closed anyway, it really doesn't...

Hobart 140 Mig Welder
Great little welder, which I used primarily for autobody panels. Lots of heat, gas valve and regulators work well. Price was unbeatable when compared with a Lincoln or Miller available at big box stores. With free delivery what could be better?
